I agree, it strikes me as odd that Disney decided to solve racism by giving a black character a sloppy seconds ride, instead of building one from scratch.

2 points - Firstly, DIS took the lazy way out and reskinned the ride; we knew that going in, but one can't help but observe that the structure looks like a half way effort between it looking like a bayou and a southwestern mesa. Secondly, it is difficult to forget the reports of Bob Iger saying he thought the new ride was boring.

Removing the shooting range? Typical Disney 2024, removing all semblance of tension or danger, albeit complete fake. The parks are so sanitized now they're basically hospitals.

They ought to build a muppets themed indoor roller coaster at one of the parks.

Honestly, I was not thrilled..... I expected the ride to be more like the movie. So much potential to recreate. Lack of imagination, money, time status. 1 out of 10, I would rate this at a 2. This will not bring back return visitors. Disney must spice things up and go back to the drawing boards PLZ!!!

Jack, I hate to disagree with you because I usually agree with you on everything but cars land would be perfect there because if you think about frontier land and you think about the country bears they are talking and singing as well so cars would definitely fit and would also blend in perfectly with Big Thunder

It’s so sad the downgrade Disney made with this after millions of dollars. Splash Mountain felt like the critters lived there, we came into their world. It’s so awkward seeing the next animatronic silently waiting up ahead for you to pass their sensor. Put them on a loop like how it was before, so it puts some actual life into them. We didn’t spend money to watch screens either, but to be immersed into an imaginary world. The place feels like they scraped the bare minimum of the barrel just to try to entertain us. A few critters scattered throughout the bayou feels like they are coming out just for us, then to get back into the dark void. Just stick to doing rides based on the movies like the classic Fantasyland dark rides, add Facilier, “Are you ready” for the drop, and put Tiana in her gown at the finale with a familiar song on the recycled riverboat scene…would have been amazing! I’ve seen so many comments of African Americans saying they didn’t care about the Song of the South drama, because the ride didn’t convey that at all and was an enjoyable experience for decades! Poor Tony Baxter and what they’ve done to his masterpiece, and the millions who will grow up never knowing the classic of a ride Splash was.

Of course they are going to announce phase 2 at this years D23. That is Disney's PR philosophy. It also give the "Disney takes forever" people more ammo to complain that its taking 5 years to build.

Why would anthropomorphic animals or cars not work? Splash Mountain was full of talking animals.

Does everything have to be IP. A lot of the best attractions at WDW were non IP. Big Thunder, Space Mountain, Norway's boat ride. Beyond Big Thunder could be literally that, an adventure in the American west as Walt would have imagined it.

For me, I've been to Disneyland well over 100x. I've never been interested in the story of splash mountain once. I've enjoyed the songs and the ride overall. It would be nice if they gave the ride a story, but it'll be an improvement for me, having a group of characters from a movie I, and my children, enjoy. I'm glad we got the update. I always thought they should've made it a Pocahontas ride, tbh. I'm excited from what I've seen. Thanks for the review.

As a DVC member, for many years there is only 1 spot DVC members had a lounge. It was in EPCOT. I think there should be a lounge in every park for DVC members. I do not think they should take away from an open day attraction or a public area being used but maybe use an area that no longer offers or maybe make a new area just for DVC member. What about by the Haunted Mansion in the tree area. Could make a mid-size lounge base of HM theme with a view of River of America.

Imo, these two expansions will be used to anchor the two areas on either side of the Disneyland resort hotel(s) for the 'Disney Forward' project. Moana & Coco would also fit perfectly at California.

I was looking forward to princess and frog replacement. I loved splash but was looking forward to replacement. From what I’ve seen it’s missing dread and voodoo. Movie was based on voodoo. Final drop needed dread. I’m sure it will be fine and our kids will like it because it’s a water drop ride at the end of the day. Looking forward to riding.

After the less than successful Epcot expansion, I have no faith in any WDW rumors. Until it’s built, it doesn’t exist.

I would think an Indiana Jones ride (rotating roller coaster as Temple of Doom mine cars) could go in Adventureland in that expansion area. Disneyland Adventureland is great now with cohesive rusty '30s feel. Moana could go in Epcot in a new Polynesia pavilion that could expand out with "islands" restaurant into Seven Seas Lagoon. This would go on expansion pad between China and Germany, which happens to have a side-river lagoon already. A Flight of Passage style Coco ride could fit in Mexico, I overlaid Google Earth image of FoP show building on top of Mexico pavilion and it can fit either in that building or by expanding the building. All of Epcot (an acronym - word that is irrelevant now) should be re-named Disney AdventurePlanet or MagicPlanet (the "planet" making sense with Spaceship Earth icon and centerpiece). "Planet" also makes sense for having World Showcase, and the future world area would be called Other World, with fantastical "far off worlds" of our imagination, such as Marvel Guardians, etc. (Because the park is moving away from being a world's fair and the country pavilions no longer being "travel brochures" like they were when Epcot opened, and instead now having story-based rides like Remy's and Frozen, they could re-name this area World Adventures, that would help increase the energy and zest of Epcot as they face competition from adrenaline-filled Universal). The point being, you're not going to compete with Universal with "a showcase"!

If these rumors are true, it's horrible. Walt Disney made Frontierland to honor American history and folklore. It's only being destroyed b/c Iger's regime hates Walt, and thinks anything from traditional America is "racist."

Sounds like they should ditch the Cars land and these Ip's and bring back Western River expedition. They should use a blend of Davis's ideas and make a great ride that people will know and love without attaching an IP to it

I agree with the sentiment of what was said at 2:15, but I don't think it has to do with $$$; instead it's time investment. The ride breakdown is: 23 @ MK | 11 @ Epcot | 9 @ Hollywood | 8 @ Animal Kingdom. MK is the only all day park in my eyes. While I make AK an all day park, it has more to do with the space & early closing time during the summer. Epcot & Hollywood are both half day parks, but I visit Epcot over two days and Hollywood I usually can complete in half a day (we skip out on 5 rides cause we don't like drops). If they added a 5th park, they either need to go all in and make it an all day park (Density of MK or walking times similar to AK). Otherwise, they could make Hollywood a true full day by adding another land or keep AK open to 9p and add 3 more rides. For MK, 25 would be the absolute MAX. And Epcot, if they added some new nations and maybe 1 ride per nation, then I would make it an all day visit instead of a late afternoon arrival. Again though, all this has to do with Time and not $$$. And this is WDW super power vs. Universal because the Epic Universe looks & sounds awesome, but it's disconnected from the rest of their footprint and I have to 'leave' Universal and 'enter' Florida in order to get between the parks, not great.

Really interesting to see what happens here. So many content creators have different speculation/reports as to what will go into Beyond Big Thunder area. Haven’t heard Coco for this space anywhere before. Why does Coco get a ride in AK as well as MK plus a small footprint in the Mexico pavilion. Makes little sense to have that IP have multiple foot prints in 3/4 parks.

Wouldn't they benefit from putting a second pirates ride behind the OG pirates attraction? Why not just put a cloned version of Shanghai's Pirates attraction there instead of Moana? Moana would be better placed in Animal Kingdom for the sake of keeping to the idea of animal conservation.

Great video, Jack! I have a couple of thoughts. I really hope that they don't remove Pecos Bill's. It's a favorite for a lot of people and really would kill the Frontierland vibe I my opinion. With Tiana's opening, I think it makes more sense to use phase 1 of BBT to include a Tiana's restaurant and the infrastructure for Big Thunder, Riverboat, and Rivers of America. There's not a lot of room between the current maintenance area and the train tracks. Then, phase 2 could include Cocoland. Both a living and dead section. I think that would go over great! As for Moana, I think that's a good idea as well. I was looking at the monorail station the other day and thought that it wouldn't be hard to install a skyliner station just south or west and run it to TTC between the bungalows and ferry to add extra transportation across Seven Seas. There's also some possible expansion beyond Haunted Mansion if they moved the extra fireworks launch area. I hate the idea of the DVC lounge, but whatever. And the bar isn't an ideal thing either for me. Let's get drunk at MK in front of the kids... I also hope that this doesn't create wall land at MK for 10 years! We'll see what happens.

Maybe it's just me, but I never rode Splash Mountain for the story. In fact, I really had no idea what the story even was. Maybe I'm the minority in that, but I'm anxiously awaiting my first ride of Tiana's for the drops. Again, not really for a story element.

I know there’s already a lot of Toy Story stuff but they should make “Woody’s Wild West” as part of Frontierland. An area similar to the opening scene of Toy Story 3. Or even just a ride not a land.
